The Alps Challenge Special Edition Jersey
In my opinion, every cycling trip should have a custom jersey. I’m not saying that so we now get hundreds of orders for cycling trip jerseys. The reason is becuase you can choose your inspiration, include your own details like places or names of people, and, if like us, you all contribute your own piece to the design, then, when you get to wear it, it’s a special feeling. This is exactly what we have done with the Alps Challenge jersey and I met up with the trip photographer and videographer, Sergi Mas de Xaxars to get a few shots of the new kit.
The Inspiration
The inspiration for the jersey is a map of the Alps. The contour lines and terrain colours actually come from an area of map around Alpe d’Huez. The design was then drawn up by designer Guillem Iglesias, in two colour options. The colours that we decided on were based on the French flag. Guillem’s final design is superb.
The Details
To commemorate the Alps Challenge and the epic challenge that it entails, we have included the names of the cols on the base layer, and on the rear jersey pocket. On the other rear pocket, we have included the total distance and elevation. All of this combined with Tactic’s Hard Day Jersey and Shorts will be ideal for the demanding days of cycling that will soon be upon us.
Production
Once the design was signed off and order placed. It went into production at the Tactic Factory in Girona, Spain. First, the design is printed and then it is transferred on to the fabric in a process called sublimation. After that, the panels are cut into pieces and prepped ready to be stitched together. The sewing is the only step which is outsourced but still done in Girona, and then the items come back for QC, packing and shipping.
