Sporty Bakes

Words by Jenny Price

Conquering the Alps on a bike demands more than just grit and determination. Getting your fuelling right will enable you to keep you pushing up those beautiful climbs and exhilarating descents. That's where SportyBakes can help.

The road to setting up SportyBakes started as my cycling goals got more ambitious. When I was training for and doing long rides and sportives, I found manufactured energy bars hard to eat while riding and gels too harsh on my digestive system. I started experimenting with what to eat on the bike and luckily for you, have done lots and lots of testing to come up with bars that are easy to chew and eat on the go. They’re also delicious thanks to the home-made fillings and flavour combinations.

Why choose SportyBakes for the Alps Challenge?

Energy

The simple and complex carbohydrates in SportyBakes provide an initial hit of energy followed by a slow and steady release of energy, keeping you well fuelled.

Easy on the stomach

Our bars are gentle on the guts, making them an ideal choice for endurance rides where digestion can be a challenge.

Convenient and Portable

Individually wrapped and perfectly portioned, our bars fit easily into your jersey pocket, ready to be enjoyed whenever you need a boost.

Delicious Taste

Let's face it, you want a snack that tastes good too! SportyBakes come in a variety of flavours, including iced lemon, raspberry and white chocolate and peanut butter and chocolate.

On the 2019 Challenge, one of the riders proposed marriage after trying one of my bakes!

Whether it’s the tough-at-the-top Col du Glandon, the mighty Galibier or the spectacular Col de la Bonette that you’re facing, SportyBakes will help keep your energy levels high, your spirits higher, and you’ll conquer those peaks with confidence.

How to order for the trip?

I’ll share a menu of bars available to order before the trip and your bars will be transported in the van for you. If you’d like to order some to try some before we go, please drop me a message.
